Central Dispatch is the public service answering point (PSAP) for Ogemaw County. Central Dispatch operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All 911 phone lines and emergency calls in Ogemaw County are routed through our communications center. The 911 dispatcher obtains the information from the caller and then dispatches the appropriate emergency response agency. Ogemaw County Central Dispatch handles over 13,000 911 calls each year, with over 50,000 requests for assistance. Central Dispatch sends emergency responders to over 15,000 incidents each year.
In addition to answering 911 calls from the public, we are the primary dispatch center for five law enforcement agencies, eight fire departments, and three EMS stations within Ogemaw County. Central Dispatch handles all of the radio communications for these response agencies. Central Dispatch also receives and disseminates vital information to officers on traffic stops and complaints through the State of Michigan LEIN system. This information provides officers with data on individuals that may have warrants or violations, as well as identifying individuals that may be a safety risk to the public.
Ogemaw County established its Enhanced 911 system in 1993. It operated under the direction of the Sheriff’s Office until October 2005, when the County Board of Commissioners established Ogemaw County Central Dispatch as its own department within the County. Central Dispatch is located at the County Annex Building.
